Frank P. Gerardi
Chairman of the Board
Frank P. Gerardi is Chairman of the Board of Jupiter Biomedical Research, Inc. He has been a director of the Company since its inception and brings to JBR a rare combination of Wall Street financial experience, public company leadership, biotechnology board experience, capital markets knowledge, and a deeply personal commitment to advancing cancer therapeutics.
Mr. Gerardi’s background is particularly well suited to the challenges faced by an emerging biomedical company. Jupiter Biomedical Research is working to advance novel therapeutic candidates in areas of significant medical need, including oncology, and the Company’s success requires more than scientific promise. It requires leadership capable of understanding capital markets, public company expectations, strategic transactions, regulatory-stage development, business partnerships, and the long-cycle discipline necessary to move biomedical innovation toward commercialization. Mr. Gerardi brings experience across each of those areas.
After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Gerardi entered the financial industry at an unusually early age. At 24, he became the youngest member of the New York Stock Exchange, where he remained a member for 17 years. He continued his education at the New York Institute of Finance, became an NASD principal, and later founded Univest Management, Inc., a consulting firm involved in public company transactions, financial institutions, and biotechnology-related consulting engagements.
Mr. Gerardi has held executive positions with major Wall Street investment banking firms and has served on both private and public company boards of directors. His public company experience includes service as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IGI Labs, later known as Teligent, and service as Chairman of the Audit Committee of Dyadic International. These roles gave him direct experience in corporate governance, public company reporting, audit oversight, strategic transactions, investor relations, and the operational demands placed on publicly traded life sciences companies.
His work with biomedical and pharmaceutical companies is a defining part of his career. While at IGI Labs, Mr. Gerardi helped reposition the company from a contract cosmetic manufacturing business using proprietary transdermal delivery technology into a pharmaceutical company. During that period, he negotiated commercial relationships with major companies, including Estée Lauder and Chattem, which later became part of Sanofi. His work at IGI reflects the kind of strategic leadership that is essential in the life sciences industry: recognizing the pharmaceutical potential of a technology platform, repositioning the business around higher-value opportunities, and pursuing relationships that can support commercialization.
At Dyadic International, Mr. Gerardi served on the board during a period that included the negotiation and sale of one of Dyadic’s businesses to DuPont for $75 million. That experience further strengthened his background in biotechnology strategy, board-level decision making, transaction execution, and the creation of shareholder value within the life sciences sector.
As Chairman of the Board of Jupiter Biomedical Research, Mr. Gerardi provides leadership informed by decades of experience in finance, public markets, biotechnology, corporate governance, and strategic development. He understands the importance of building credibility with investors, maintaining disciplined corporate oversight, evaluating strategic opportunities, and aligning scientific development with business execution. His resume stands out within JBR because it combines hands-on experience in biomedical companies with the financial sophistication required to guide an emerging company through financing, partnering, and growth.
Mr. Gerardi’s work with JBR is also personal. He has stated that he hopes to end his career by fulfilling a promise he made to his mother before her death: to help fight the disease that took her life, cancer. At Jupiter Biomedical Research, that personal commitment is joined with his professional background in biotechnology and finance. His leadership reflects both a business objective and a human mission — to help advance therapeutic research that may one day benefit patients and families facing serious disease.
