Robert C. Hackney

Robert C. Hackney is a director of Jupiter Biomedical Research, Inc. and a Florida attorney with more than four decades of experience in corporate law, securities regulation, business formation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and strategic business counseling.

Mr. Hackney has been involved with Jupiter Biomedical Research since its inception in 2016, initially providing legal services and corporate guidance to the Company. He became a member of the Board of Directors in the first quarter of 2020. Through his long association with JBR, he has developed a strong interest in biomedical research, drug development, intellectual property strategy, pre-clinical development, and the business and regulatory challenges involved in advancing promising scientific discoveries toward commercialization.

Mr. Hackney’s legal career began with a state regulatory agency involved in oversight of businesses, including companies in the securities industry. He later joined a large law firm headed by a former United States Senator and went on to build a broad corporate practice serving clients across a wide range of industries. His experience includes representing start-up companies, closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, private companies, and larger domestic and international corporations. He has been involved in transactions ranging from small private company matters to mergers involving Fortune 500 companies.

Over his career, Mr. Hackney has helped clients create hundreds of businesses and has advised operating companies on corporate structure, financing, securities matters, contracts, governance, acquisitions, and strategic growth. His background gives him a practical understanding of the issues faced by emerging companies seeking to move from concept and early development into financing, regulatory execution, partnerships, and commercialization.

Mr. Hackney is also an author and entrepreneur. He has written numerous books on business, finance, securities law, entrepreneurship, mergers and acquisitions, equity crowdfunding, blockchain technology, and related subjects. His work as an author reflects a longstanding interest in explaining complex business and legal issues in practical, accessible terms.

He attended the University of Miami, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University, and earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. He is a member of The Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Hackney has been active in civic and professional organizations and has served as President of the Marine Industry Education Foundation, President of the Rotary Club of Palm Beach Gardens and President of the Guild of Catholic Lawyers of the Diocese of Palm Beach.
